If you are suffering from periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, how would you know? Even though it is a serious gum tissue infection, it can often go undetected for many years due to its slow-moving progression. However, during one of the early stages of gum disease, known as gingivitis, there are several indications and signs that it is occurring. Because of this, take note if there is any abnormality of irregularities with your gums so that you can receive treatments as soon as possible.

If you are suffering from gingivitis, there are several clues that often alert you to its presence. This can include issues associated with bad breath that continues to occur. If you are suffering from bad breath and foul odors are emanating from your mouth, and regardless of treatment, it continues to return, it could be an underlying sign that gingivitis is present. Furthermore, several other conditions including genetic and environmental factors, the presence of diabetes, a pregnancy or medications you may be taking can be linked to gingivitis. If your gums are frequently bleeding or you notice any signs of redness, swelling or tenderness, visit your dentist for an oral exam to see if any signs of gum disease are the cause of it.

Be aware that if you are suffering from gingivitis, it could be linked to several causes that need to be eliminated. Your oral hygiene is often one of the leading causes of gingivitis because you’re simply not caring for your mouth as you need to. Always remember to clean out your mouth every day with reliable routines and cleaning by brushing twice daily and flossing every day as well.
